Horrors man Tom Furse to drop ‘Ecstasy’ LP in late January
The Horrors synth player and co-founder Tom Furse has announced a new album through Lo Recordings.
The news of the album, set for the spring, came with a three minute edit of a 20 minute epic ‘A Journey In Ecstasy’ that will open the Ecstatic Meditations album when it drops at the end of January.
The upcoming album release marks the latest of Lo Recordings’ ‘Spaciousness’ series, which explores past and present movements in new age, ambient, deep listening and post-classical music.
True to Furse’s desire to make something “unashamedly joyful” in contrast to today’s dark times, all of the tracks on ‘Ecstatic Meditations’ blend soothing inspirations from the likes of Alice Coltrane, Steve Reich, Laraaji and Japanese environmental ambient musicians, aiming to achieve longform electronic bliss.
Recorded, mixed and mastered solely by Furse in his modular synth-stocked, coastal Margate studio, ‘A Journey Of Ecstasy’ is one of six tracks to be featured. Besides his work with The Horrors, Furse is known for his monthly NTS Radio show and his impressive collection of synths, including ‘The Pyramid’, one of two oddly-shaped sound-generating devices exclusively built by inventor David Cranmer aka. Nervous Squirrel.
The album’s launch will coincide with an exclusive audiovisual event, soon to be announced by Furse.
