International Women’s Day: DJs and producers share their setups
As part of our International Women’s Day celebrations, we take a closer look at the studios of some of our favourite producers: Eris Drew, Anna Wall, Johanna Knutsson and Tasha.
For Eris Drew (above), DJ setup and studio gear work together, with a standing setup based around Yamaha monitors, Waldorf synths, Akai MPC and a well-organised vinyl collection.
Tasha favours a light and airy setup, based around a classic pair of Technics turntables with one Pioneer CDJ, Pioneer mixer and a sizeable vinyl collection. A MacBook, KRK monitors and Roland Aira hardware form the basis of the home production setup.
Anna Wall’s DJ setup is clean and simple, with Technics turntables and CDJs, an Allen & Heath Xone:23 mixer plus tiny Genelec monitors to provide clear sound without disturbing the neighbours.
Based on the outskirts of Berlin, Johanna Knutsson’s studio breaks with the moody conventions you might expect for a techno producer’s studio. Light pink walls, turquoise carpet and French bulldog Pepper all contribute to a calming atmosphere. Read our full interview with Johanna here.
