BAKK outline Plafond series

Legowelt, SFV Acid and Haron feature on the debut edition of The Hague label’s new series of records.

The legacy of Legowelt looms large over Den Haag and beyond, and it is no surprise Danny Wolfers has been a promiment presence in the output of local label and self-styled BAKK militia. Legowelt shared sides with a young Robert Bergman on the debut BAKK release some three years ago and Wolfers has remained a regular contributor to the label operated by DJ Randstad (formerly known as Handsome Thomas), The Social Lover and Steve Motto. In amidst Bronze Teeth, Haron and Jeremiah R records, last year saw BAKK reissue the Legowelt album, Dark Days, as well as put out the amusingly-framed Laundromat Of Your Mind EP.

Forever a label looking to approach the art of putting out records from numerous angles, BAKK’s recent DOep + Jazzchamber 12″/10″ bundle from Zane ‘SFV Acid’ Reynolds will now be followed by the onset of a new conceptual series. Taking the title Plafond – which is French for ceiling – BAKK describe this new endeavour as music “made for drowning in the deep end of the pool,” and Legowelt leads the contributions to this debut editon alongside two other label associates in SFV Acid and Haron. A chance for the chosen artists to draw for the more expansive and relaxing end of their production palettes, Plafond 1 can be previewed below, with BAKK suggesting it is “best served when lying on the floor, gazing in to the abyss.”

BAKK will release Plafond 1 by Various Artists in early October.
