Bio Rhythm revisits The Pleasure Box
Marco Bernardi, Den Haag denizens Shitcluster and Joe Lentini line up for the latest volume.
Describing itself in simple terms as a “Rotterdam-based house/techno label” has left Paul Du Lac’s Bio Rhythm a lot of room for manoeuvre in the four years it has been active. Launching with the mind and pitch-bending dancefloor sermons of The Sun God from Jamal Moss, Bio Rhythm has gone on to gather up a double pack of Villa Åbo DJ tools of Börft founder Jan Svensson, compile raw throwdowns from the Naples archive of The Early Sounds Collective, and call on the razor sharp EBM edit skills of the master Mick Wills. Wedged in amongst all this, one of the earliest Bio Rhythm releases was The Pleasure Box Volume 1, a 2013 split 12″ that featured Alden Tyrell and Mr. Pauli’s Sumerian Fleet band, SD Records associate Louis Guilliaume, Rotterdam electro brothers Duplex and Saarbrücken’s finest, Roger 23.
Fast forward three years and Bio Rhythm are set to follow fine recent releases from DeViere, Brassfoot and Mirror Man with a second volume of The Pleasure Box. Due out in early September sporting some rather questionable artwork, this second volume features tracks from Marco Bernardi, Den Haag collective Shitcluster and the lesser-known Joe Lentini and is described as a collection of “blackmagic braindance jams for all you carnal sinners.” You can get an idea of how that sounds musically on the below previews.
Bio Rhythm will release The Pleasure Box Volume 1 by Various Artists on September 5.
A1. MB – The Second Saiaman
A2. Shitcluster – The Love Machine
