Max D joins forces with Mood Hut to become Music People
The many-headed collaboration has resulted in a new single called Always On.
It’s been plain to see the shared love between the Mood Hut and Future Times crews, not least with the spate of releases from some of Vancouver’s smoothest operators on Max D’s Washington DC label over the past couple of years. So far this year Mood Hut have drawn favourable attention with a single from Lnrdcroy and the much loved Disco Mantras Vol. 1 compilation all adding weight to the label’s keen instinct for summer-friendly tones. Max D meanwhile has kept listeners content by dropping Boost, his third album proper, on Future Times earlier this year. Now the love-in between these two on-point house concerns has been consummated like never before, resulting in a super group of sorts called Music People.
The project harks back to a week-long stay Max D enjoyed in ‘the Mood Hut chalet’ back in Spring of last year, where a rotating cast of artists chipped in on “Always On”. The track has manifested as three different mixes, plus an additional collaboration between Max D, House Of Doors and Hashman Deejay called “Four”. Of the souls involved in this most pleasurable of group efforts, Evelyn provided vocals, Max D was on the beats, Jack J played Rhodes, Liam Butler sorted out the bass, House Of Doors work the live effects processing and Hashman Deejay worked on edits and additional production. Mood Hut’s Twitter account holder and press correspondent 4Claudio contributes unspecified ‘legal work’. Have a listen to a sample of the whole EP via the SoundCloud player below.
Mood Hut will release Always On by Music People soon.
