Junes leaves Trails on Galdoors
The Leeds-based label presents a third release from a founding member.
Without particularly attempting to be anything other than a quality house and techno label, Galdoors has managed to build itself into quite the appealing proposition in the past three years, to the point where a new release sparks an instant interest in the same way you might react to something fresh landing on Workshop. Spearheaded by Junes and Tames, the label has made select connections with quite disparate artists, including a first release from Audio Werner, a sublime house turn from Hessle Audio affiliate Elgato and most recently some deadly broken beat tracks from Leif. Such a range of artists keeps the remit of the label comfortably broad, while Junes and Tames themselves have been fleshing out the sonic identity with their own burgeoning productions.
Junes now returns to his label with his third 12”, some two years after he last appeared with Root Pattern. Many of the familiar traits of Galdoors past are evident here, not least on the stripped down micro-house shuffle of the title track with its concise Germanic delineation. There are also some techno facets to be heard on the EP as well, with the measured club-ready qualities in the music quite possibly reflecting Junes’ current living situation in Berlin. Even so, there’s still plenty of mysterious atmospheric work lingering in between the sturdy rhythms, which ensures Galdoors stays aligned with likeminded operations such as UntilMyHeartStops and meandyou. Galdoors will release Trails by Junes on July 25.
