Kann have Avocado Dreams
Matt Karmil, Leafar Legov and Leipzig locals Bender and Mary Yalex contribute to tracks to the various artist EP.
Run by map.ache, Sevensol and Bender out of Leipzig, the Kann label has formed a close connection with Giegling over the years, putting out an early Traumprinz 12″ in 2012, Paradise With A Lobotomy, while conversely the aforementioned map.ache was responsible for one of the few records Giegling released last year in the five-track drop The Golden Age. Kann Records last made news on Juno Plus with Philipp Matalla returning to the label with the four-track Kiba EP released earlier this year which followed a 12″ debut by new name cmd q. Kann once again align themselves with their Weimar neighbours again by inviting Leafar Legov to contribute a track to this Avacado Dreams EP, with artist’s from further afield like recent interviewee Matt Karmil contributing a track too.
Names closer to home help balance the international fare of the release with Kann co-founder Bender venturing out on his own for a rare solo production. Usually seen making music with right hand man Sevensol, Bender’s “Think Green” marks the release of his first solo production, while Mary Yalex’s profile is given a boost with Kann offering the local producer her first release outside of the CD album, digital releases and single 12″ she’s self-released on her own Yalex Recordings. Furthermore, Kann have created a new one-track series they plan to distribute through Bandcamp, with “a massive jungle_house track by Gymgym,” kicking off proceedings, and you can preview Steppin´Wolf’s forthcoming 12″ on Kann sub-label Mana via the label’s SoundCloud.
Kann will release Avocado Dreams by various artists in July.
