MadderModes present Empirical Evidence to Voodoo Down
The British deep house duo make their way to the Brooklyn label for a four-track release.
You may have missed Andy Harper and Nic Ford bubbling up unless you’re especially keyed into the minutae of the deep house world. Inhabiting the space where Fred P, Qu, Jus Ed et al like to spend their time meditating, Harper and Ford’s work as MadderModes has so far manifested in a small run of singles over the past two years for Shift Coordinate Points, Millions Of Moments and Night Drive Music amongst others, although the roots of their project reach back to 2005 when they met at university. Now their calm and contemplative take on house music has reached across the Atlantic to forge a connection with the ever-productive Voodoo Down stable.
So far this year the Brooklyn-based bastion of quality house music has released an EP from Our Mutual Friend while prior to that they put out a record from their own N’conduit, and they’re keeping up the pace with this highly worthy introduction to the sound of MadderModes. The mood is warm and ever so slightly psychedelic across all four tracks on the Empirical Evidence 12”, not least on the sublime opening cut “Corinthian Columns” with its cascading new age melodic lines and delicate drum machine patterns. Fill your boots with the samples from the EP by way of the SoundCloud player below ahead of the full release in June.
Voodoo Down will release Empirical Evidence by MadderModes in June.
