Phinery Tapes split more ways

Philippe Vandal, WANDA GROUP, UMFANG and Cold Clouds combine on next tape for the Danish label.

Surfacing in 2014, Danish label Phinery Tapes has done its part to dunk 60-plus (and counting) releases into the fathomless ocean of contemporary cassette music. Browse their discography and some of the more entertaining aliases on the label read as Sea Nymph Science, Citrus Glaze and Andrew Is Tired – who they maybe is another story altogether – however the label has now coaxed music from some more familiar names in WANDA GROUP and UMFANG. Alongside Philippe Vandal and Cold Clouds this latest release takes in 10 tracks in total with UMFANG – who we interviewed last year – contributing three obscure, cave dwelling productions while WANDA GROUP provides an 18-minute long ambient field recording fusion called “THE GRASS THE GREEN GREEN GRASS”. Meanwhile Vandal and Cold Clouds offer three tracks each of beatless bliss and tinkering electronics which you can preview in full below.
