Desire embark on Monoton remixes
Abdulla Rashim, Rainer Veil, Ron Morelli & Svengalighost, and Basic House feature across two 12″ singles due on the French label.
With more artists in its discography than your dome piece can probably retain, French label Desire is a treasure trove of music. Surfacing in 2009 with the music of two-piece //TENSE//, other acts like Ike Yard, Monoton and most recently DJ Deep & Roman Poncet’s Sergie Rezza collaboration have become major projects for the label. Konrad Becker’s Monoton alias has been of particular interest for Desire who have reissued a slow but steady stream of archival music from the Austrian, giving new life to early-’80s LPs Monotonprodukt 07 and Monotonprodukt 02 in 2012 and 2014 respectively.
Clearly admirers of Becker’s work, Desire have embarked on giving Monoton the remix treatment in similar fashion to what they did with Ike Yard back in 2014 when Regis, Vessel, Powell and The KVB were among those that reworked the New York group. For this Monoton remix programme, Desire are preparing two 12″ releases featuring high profile reworks of material from the two aforementioned albums they reissued. MPO2 RMX sees efforts from Sergie Rezza, Abdulla Rashim and Opal Tapes boss Basic House and concludes with “Scanner Overview,” a Monoton megamix of sorts from Robin Rimbaud. Complementing this, MPO7 RMX finds L.I.E.S. pair Ron Morelli and Svengalisghost collaborating on a remix alongside further reworks from Prostitutes and Modern Love duo Rainer Veil.
Desire will release both the MPO2 RMX and MPO7 RMX 12″s by Monoton on April 11.
