Field announce album from IORI
Cold Radiance by the Berlin-based Japanese producer will arrive next month.
Founded in 2008, Dutch label Field initially focused their energies on a series of split 12″ releases that canvassed the wide spectrum of local Lowlands techno and electro exponents, whilst maintaining the excellent Field Recordings online mix series. Recent times has seen the label’s remit widen markedly, with a hefty 2014 triple pack compilation followed last year by a trilogy of artist albums from L’estasi Dell’oro, D.Å.R.F.D.H.S and Kartei. Maintaining this theme of threes, Field later issued a trilogy of dedicated artist 12″s from Szare, Staffan Linzatti and Michel Isorinne to cap off an impressive 2015.
Field return to the fray next month, as news arrives of their plans to issue a new album from Okinawa-born techno producer IORI. Known for an impressive array of 12″s for Semantica, Prologue and Phonica White, Iori Asano brandishes a potent style of deep techno that already has delivered one album in the shape of 2012’s Nexus for DJ Nobu’s Bitta. The upcoming Cold Radiance offers a different side to Asano’s sound however, with the producer acting upon Field’s suggestion for an album of more experimental and ambient sounds.
Recorded between Okinawa and Berlin over the course of the past 12 months, Asano describes the eight-track album as an “aerial sci-fi movie soundtrack as that is the kind of Atmosphere I wanted to create.” You can hear “Passage” below for an idea of how that approach has manifested itself on the album.
Field will release Cold Radiance by IORI on April 25.
