Steven Porter returns with Superbad
Japanese pair Katsunori Sawa and Yuji Kondo will make their debut on SNTS Records next month.
Back in early 2014 we were willing and grateful recipients of a podcast from Steven Porter that was the epitome of eclectic and obscure, commencing with David Toop’s General Strike project and ricocheting across the borders of music in 64 minutes. Katsunori Sawa and Yuji Kondo adopt a quality over quantity approach when it comes to making music as Steven Porter, seemingly chosing their labels wisely with the equally enigmatic Weevil Neighbourhood the one outpost the pair are most readily associated with outside their own 10 Label. Indeed it was Weevil that issued Sawa’s debut solo album Secret Of Silence late last year.
April will see the return of Steven Porter, with a four-track 12″ entitled Superbad scheduled for release on Berlin label SNTS Records. Founded by the amusingly perma-hooded mask bearer and techno producer SNTS, the label was initially a home to his own output but a recent Positive Centre 12″ suggested a widening in approach. There is no word yet on the themes explored by Kondo and Sawa on Superbad but presumably it has little to do with the Judd Apatow vehicle of the same name.
SNTS Records will release Superbad by Steven Porter in April.
