Slackk returns to R&S
The Boxed resident will release the Aviary EP next month.
These are interesting times indeed at R&S Records; the label was founded upon a dedication to pioneering techno but their recent past has seen the stylistic remit expanded much wider. The past 12 months has seen R&S issue beat tapes from Ratking producer Sporting Life, put out an album from Blue Daisy, add to the Tale Of Us hype and become the latest label to get seduced by the ivory tinkling of Nils Frahm. In amidst all this, last June saw R&S usher in a label debut from UK grime man Slackk with the excellent Backwards Light 12″ and the label have now revealed a second release from the Boxed resident.
Due out next month, the Aviary EP takes shape as six tracks that continue Paul Lynch’s quest to mutate instrumental grime into compelling new forms. Included on the record is “Skeleton Crew,” a track that has been in rotation amongst Slackk contemporaries like Mr. Mitch, Logos, and Mumdance since last summer. The union between R&S and Slackk will see the label join forces with Boxed to present a stage at this year’s closing edition of Bloc festival which will feature Mr. Mitch, Lone, Lakker, Logos and more.
R&S will release the Aviary EP by Slackk on March 25.
