Type announce Basic Rhythm album
Imaginary Forces producer Anthoney Hart joins the label with an album of jungle, garage and grime mutations as Basic Rhythm.
The past six years have seen Hastings-born Anthoney Hart cultivate quite the healthy discography under his Imaginary Forces alias which has channeled a lifetime of hardcore and jungle appreciation and influences through an experimental lens. Largely disseminated through his own Sleep Codes label, Hart’s Imaginary Forces output has gained wider traction of late with last year’s Low Key Movements album for Entr’acte complemented by the Shift Work 12″ for UAE dwellers Bedouin. This has continued into 2016, with Rabit’s Halcyon Veil label scooping up a fresh Imaginary Forces 12″ and now the revelation Hart has an album due on Type under the name Basic Rhythm.
As the name suggests, Basic Rhythm is an outlet for Hart to produce some straight up dance music shorn of the abstractions apparent in his Imaginary Forces material. The upcoming album Raw Trax sees Hart attempt to reference the jungle music he cut his teeth on without falling into the traps of nostalgia or dull musical academia. As a press release has it, the eight tracks are “not an attempt to recapture the sound of jungle or hardcore, but a new twist on a familiar setting.”
Type will release Raw Trax by Basic Rhythm on February 5.
