Black Zone Myth returns to Edition Gravats

A five-track EP from Maxime Primault’s alias opens the 2016 account for Low Jack and Jean Carval’s label.

The Black Zone Myth Chant (pictured above) alias may have been around since the 2011 release of the Straight Cassette tape, it wasn’t really until his debut on Editions Gravats that the project received wider recognition. Following Antinote founder Quentin Vandewalle’s Quartier Choc ‎mixtape of French psychedelic boogie and ’80s motocross funk and the Ben UFO-approved Îlot 7″ which anointed Gravats with its first record, the label provided Black Zone Myth Chant with a fitting platform for the project’s debut album, Mane Thecel Phares. The label’s only other release is the Judgement Mixtape where music from this new Black Zone Myth Chant release, Jimi W., is said to come from.

Editions Gravats explain the five-track LP presents a selection of Primault’s most ‘floor-friendly’ work taking in edits from the Judgement Mixtape described as, “refractive rhythms and cosmic melody cut-out and expanded for DJ purpose.” The release provides Black Zone Myth Chant’s first release since last year’s album, however his High Wolf alias also released a seven-track LP for Leaving Records in 2015 called Growing Wild. For a taste of what to expect, click play on the below SoundCloud stream of closing track “Zero To One.” London-based fans of the label still have a chance to win tickets to the Edition Gravats showcase at Café Oto this weekend here.
