Leonardo Martelli goes the Distanze
Stream a stormy ambient track from the Italian’s forthcoming MIXED-UP cassette.
Italian producer Leonardo Martelli first made headlines on Juno Plus when he debuted on Antinote earlier this year with the four-track Menti Singole EP, providing the Foligno-based artist with a first vinyl release. Martelli’s only other release has come through Drvg Cvltvre’s New York Haunted label in the wake of other 2015 cassettes by Panzerkreuz Records affiliates Ian Martin and Ekman, Hamburg’s Fallbeil and D’Marc Cantu. Martelli’s music makes its way back to the tape format thanks to Danilo Betti’s MIXED-UP, a label and record store based out of Rimini, Italy, that’s most notably put out two albums by Michel Isorinne, a Swedish artist who make up one half of the D.Å.R.F.D.H.S. project with Varg. Due for a release in mid-December, Martelli’s MIXED-UP debut provides the label with a five-track release called Distanze II which has been described as a “farewell electro for the dark souls,” and streaming below is the deep, moody and rhythmically ambient number “Ritorno”.
