Chevel gets remixed

Chevel 590

Paula Temple, Lee Gamble, Perc and Minor Science take the Italian artist to task on Stroboscopic Artefacts.

The dust is still settling around Dario Tronchin’s debut album Blurse, which as we reported back in July was the Treviso-based producer’s third long player after previous efforts on his own Enklav. label and Spanish concern Non Series. Having previously delivered EPs for Stroboscopic Artefacts, the album cemented Tronchin’s relationship with Lucy’s esteemed outpost while further positioning the artist as a key progenitor in the field of stylistically adventurous European techno. Compared to the usual rhetoric of UK artists working continental techno qualities into their productions, Chevel in many ways represents the opposite approach with some distinct blightly bassweight threads woven in amongst his dark and dynamic craft. Look no further than the connection with Beneath’s Mistry label for more proof.

In the spirit of this nomadic sonic personality Tronchin has developed, Stroboscopic Artefacts and the Italian have put together a remix package that calls upon equally maverick voices to cast their own mutant styles into the melting pot. Paula Temple, Lee Gamble, Perc and Minor Science have all taken to the source material with typical flair, the latter in particular building on a burgeoning reputation following an outing on The Trilogy Tapes and Whities. The label proudly proclaims Blurse Remixed to be, “more than just a ‘meeting of the minds’ remix collection,” going on to add that, “this set shows those minds in the process of melting together and re-forming as something unanticipated and evocative.”

Stroboscopic Arterfacts will release Blurse Remixed by Chevel on December 12.
