DJ Wey gets a full Introduccion
The local New Yorker is granted a debut proper for the next release on Ital’s Lovers Rock – stream one of the tracks here.
So far this year, Lovers Rock has been dedicated to championing the cause of Jacob Long, either through the Sleeper Cell collaboration with label founder Daniel Martin-McCormick or the debut Earthen Sea album, Ink, which arrived recently after some delays. Looking to waste no time, Martin-McCormick has announced plans for the next Lovers Rock offering which grants a full label debut to DJ Wey, an artist who first surfaced with a contribution to last year’s Lovers Rock #6 split release. At the time, Oli Warwick summed up the track in question, “Nosebleed”, as filled with the “kind of face-contorting potential that Woolford must have known he had found when making “Erotic Discourse”.”
With no further output to his name as far as we can see, DJ Wey is set for a more comprehensive display of his talents on the upcoming Introduccion 12″ which is set to land later month. Some four tracks deep, the 12″ looks to build on the jacking sound of the aforementioned “Nosebleed” with Wey mapping out a “wild, tripped out terrain, both sinister and fun.” The lead track finds Wey combining with Opal Tapes artist J. Albert under the name Amigos DJs, whilst “Emily” is the craziest house cut we have heard in some time. The latter can be streamed in full below.
Lovers Rock will release Introduccion by DJ Wey in late-November.
