Katsunori Sawa to release album
The Weevil Neighbourhood will release the Japanese producer’s debut album, Secret Of Silence.
Sometimes known as one half of the Steven Porter collaboration with fellow Japanese producer Yuji Kondo, Katsunori Sawa is well regarded for his abstract take on industrial breaks, noise and otherworldly techno sounds. Martin Heinze’s The Weevil Neighbourhood have been responsible for all of Sawa’s solo records, a label James Manning profiled last year, however he did share a split 12″ with Yuji Kondo on the latter’s own 10 Label. It’s since been revealed Sawa is also responsible for the Bokeh alias, whose music was also released through The Weevil Neighbourhood, in addition to Steven Porter’s crowning title, LR.
It comes as no surprise then that Sawa’s album, Secret Of Silence, will arrive on The Weevil Neighbourhood, providing both label and artist with a debut long player. Speaking to Juno Plus, Heinze explains, “it didn’t feel right to have only a selection of tracks being released as an EP or even a single. Sawa’s becoming more and more prolific. His music is developing fast and it’s time to fixate this state of production in album form before something different might dominate his music in the next year and beyond.” For a taste of what’s to come we have an exclusive stream of “Anxious Kid” from the album below, and for more on Katsunori Sawa check out the podcast he did as Steven Porter for Juno Plus last year.
The Weevil Neighbourhood will release Secret Of Silence by Katsunori Sawa in December.
