Reckonwrong next for Whities
The Amsterdam resident will line the fifth release from Nic Tasker’s emergent label.
Having first surfaced on a festive digital free for all compiled by Patrick Marsman’s Pinkman Records last year, UK-born but Amsterdam-based newcomer Reckonwrong made his formal debut on the Rotterdam label earlier this year with Especially For You. A four track 12″ of playful, broken house music that betrayed little similarity to that Australian pop hit of the same name, the record lived up to Marsman’s billing of Reckonwrong possessing a unique sound. That record evidently caught the ear of NTS resident and DJ Nic Tasker, with Reckonwrong lined up for the next 12″ release on the Whities label he runs as a subsidiary of Young Turks.
Once again taking shape as a four-track 12″, Reckonwrong’s Whities debut can be previewed below and finds the producer revelling in a similar brand of off-kilter sonics for the more adventurous selectors, slotting in nicely alongside the previous Whities release from Angus Finlayson’s Minor Science project. A moment to applaud Whities for seeking out the illustrative talents of Bristol clothing label Turbo Island to lend their distinct visuals to the artwork should also be taken.
Whities will release Whities 005 by Reckonwrong in early October.
