October LP on the way through Skudge White

Julian Smith’s debut album, Black Body Radiation, will arrive through the Swedish techno label next month.

Keeping tabs on everything pouring out of Skudge Records and its associated labels at the moment is proving difficult. Along with the previously announced album from Bali’s most foremost Dutch resident Aardvarck, Skudge have 12″ releases primed from Koehler, Basic Soul Unit, The Recognition, and label owner Elias Landberg himself. We can now add to this list of forthcoming Skudgeness, a long-promised debut album from October, the Bristol-based producer Julian Smith, whose association with the Swedish label dates back to 2011 and the remix of Skudge track “Realtime” completed with Appleblim.

Since then, Smith has committed several 12″ releases to the Skudge cause with the most recent, Gate 2 Yesterday, accompanied by the suggestion a debut album was forthcoming at some point. Almost a year on and it appears the stars have aligned with the eight-track Black Body Radiation due imminently. Speaking with the fabric blog last December, Smith revealed his intentions behind the album, “I thought I would make something that’s a bit more heady and something you could listen but also play it in the club.” The industrial influences he goes on to discuss in that interview which were evident on the aforementioned Gate 2 Yesterday also seem present on this new album based on the below previews.

Skudge White will release Black Body Radiation by October in October.
