LiL JaBBa next on Local Action

The New York-based producer will release Keep through the label later this month.

Local Action were without doubt one of last year’s busiest labels in terms of sheer output with records still surfacing deep into the list-addled December period. 2015 has been much quieter by contrast in terms of music released with Tom Lea’s label understandably centred around the arrival of Deadboy on Local Action. April saw the Numbers affiliate debut on Local Action with the excellent White Magyck which was last week complemented by the surprise announcement of a “club-focused edits” addendum 12″ Black Magyck. 

As The Fader reveal, the next release from Local Action finds the label looking once again to LiL JaBBa with the New York-based artist set to release the six-track Keep EP later this month. It will represent the artist and musician’s third release for Local Action, having been introduced to the wider world with the 2013 album Scales. Both that album and the 47 EP Local Action released late last year presented LiL JaBBa as a producer capable of intricate and colourful footwork. Local Action reveal Keep is a primer for LiL Jabba’s forthcoming second album and is described as his “most advanced and developed music yet, drawing from grime, jungle and more”. Tape heads will be delighted to hear a cassette version combining the Keep and 47 EPs, plus bonus material will also be available.

Local Action will release Keep by LiL JaBBa on August 14.
