Simple Things Festival outlines 2015 line up
Untold, Holly Herndon, Vessel, Galcher Lustwerk, Objekt, Helena Hauff and Hunee billed to play the Bristol event.
Coming into its fifth year, Bristol’s annual Simple Things Festival takes place in and around the cities clubs and venues, with this year’s opening concert from Godspeed You! Black Emperor taking place at Colston Hall. The festival, which explains this year’s edition as “extending their musical remit into the worlds of grime, post-punk, electronic sound artistry, lo-fi folk, post-rock and much more,” brings a well weighted selection of music to the West Country, with Skepta, Untold and Holly Herndon billed as headliners. Further live performances of note come from Battles, Factory Floor, The Soft Moon, veteran art punks Wire, and Bristol’s own Vessel.
On the DJing side of things, Simple Things looks equally well catered for house, techno and heavier styles of electronic music. White Material man Galcher Lustwerk, Ron Trent, Helena Hauff, Objekt, nd_baumecker and Untold will all provide Simple Things with their individual, cutting edge takes on club music. The excellent Hunee is also on board, promising a loose array of disco, jazz, soul, funk and boogie inspired selections whilst rising US producer and DJ Avalon Emerson makes her Bristol debut at the festival. Simple Things Festival takes place in Bristol on October 23-24.
