Sebastian Mullaert & Ulf Eriksson present The Dance
Kontra-Musik will release a specially concieved live mix from the Swedish pair later this year.
Malmö techno outpost Kontra-Musik has been on a fine run of releases for as long as we care to remember with highlights coming from The Durian Brothers, Frak, Porn Sword Tobacco, and Massprod & Herva. However it has been some time since we saw a grand gesture from Ulf Eriksson’s label, a full length project such as Andreas Tilliander’s TM404 album or Jonsson & Alter’s 2, both of which arrived in 2013. The arrival of September will change that with Kontra-Musik planning to release a 17-track mix CD and accompanying double pack vinyl sampler called The Dance.
Mixed by label founder Ulf Eriksson and Sebastian ‘Minilogue’ Mullaert, The Dance is described as the “result of a long lasting musical love affair” between the pair and was recorded live, in one take, at Kontra-Musik’s home field Inkonst, Malmö. The idea for The Dance stems from a series of hybrid live/DJ performances Eriksson and Mullaert have undertaken over the past year or so with “one especially fine night at Trouw, Amsterdam” in November 2014 integral in it’s conception.
The full mix features a healthy mixture of unreleased material from the likes of Jan Svensson’s Villla Abo, Andreas Tilliander, Porn Sword Tobacco & SVN, and Mullaert himself along with some modern techno classics – ending on Joey Anderson’s remix of Tin Man’s “Futuristic Acid” is a nice touch. The double vinyl sampler compiles all the unreleased tracks and can be previewed below.
Kontra-Musik will release The Dance by Sebastian Mullaert & Ulf Eriksson in CD and double vinyl format on September 15.
