NAP enters Uncharted territory

Vancouver resident Daniel Rincon will make his 1080p bow in July – stream a blissful house cut here.

As we approach the mid-point of 2015, Vancouver’s 1080p remains a prolific platform for proliferating multifaceted electronics from artists both local and international. One of the label’s July releases introduces the NAP project of Daniel Rincon, a Columbian-born Vancouver resident (pictured above) with a background in lo-fi pop music as a co-founder of the city’s Student Loan Records. Inspired by D. Tiffany, Friendly Chemist and Neu Balance with whom he shares recording space in Vancouver’s Deep Blue Studios, Rincon has begun dabbling in electronic music production with the first fruits set to arrive in the shape of the nine-track cassette Uncharted.

As ever, the gilet-wearing in-house 1080p press release machine gets it spot on, describing Uncharted as an investigation of “proto IDM and rhizomatic house and techno,” with scruffy remnants of Rincon’s prior experiments in guitar-based noise still present. As a means to introduce the project we are happy to debut the warm house insouciance of “Don’t Forget The Records” which was produced with the assistance of D. Tiffany. Rincon himself has the following words of enlightenment regarding the track: “It was made mostly in one night after a couple of unfruitful recording sessions, “Dont Forget The Records” is the lightest/most digestible track on the record and is all about catching the Sunday vibe at our studio. That’s me and Friendly Chemist on the phone”

1080p will release Uncharted by NAP on July 7.
