Terraforma 2015 line-up takes shape

The second edition of the Italian festival will feature Charles Cohen, Robert Lippok, Donato Dozzy & Nuel and more.

In the increasingly fertile experimental music festival scene, unique angles are always a welcome hook to distinguish one mouth-watering line-up from another. In the case of the Milan-based Terraforma, the focus is very much on sustainability, with the idyllic Villa Arconati forest setting of the event under continued redvelopment in balance with the natural surroundings. Musically, the line-up at last years event touched upon noted artists on the fringes of electronics and the avant-garde, with Rabih Beani considered something of a guiding hand in the selection process as much as a performer at the event. A lot of emphasis goes into the presentation of the event, right down to the design of the sole stage at Terraforma, a striking piece of architecture designed by Emanuela and Matteo Petrucci.

Returning in mid June for another three days of live performances and DJ sets, Terraforma 2015 is already looking in rude health. Amongst the top billings for the event are American composer and synth renegade Charles Cohen, celebrated Raster-Noton affiliate Robert Lippok and deepest techno explorers Donato Dozzy and Nuel embarking on a four hour representation of their lauded Aquaplano series. Elsewhere Convextion will be playing live, while Marco Shuttle and Rabih Beani will be amongst those DJing.

In the interests of leaving a positive mark on the area for use at other times in the year, the festival has commissioned Milanese design studio Zarcola to undertake a new architectural project via a workshop to take place between May 24 and June 2. Meanwhile Berlin-based visual artist Luca Trevisani has been asked to create a piece to accompany the festival following on from Ignazio Mortellaro’s abstract piece for last years edition.

Terraforma takes place between June 12-14 in Parco di Villa Arconati, Milan. You can buy tickets here.
