Deadboy next on Local Action

The producer will release White Magick through the label next month.

Tom Lea’s Local Action label was at its busiest in 2014, seemingly squeezing out releases right up until the end of December and offering plenty of end of year highlights such as Yamaneko’s Kassem Mosse approved Pixel Wave Embrace. Having opened their 2015 account with some low key White Label remixes of Finn from Strict Face, DJ Q and more, Local Action have revealed details of their next release and it’s a label debut for South London man Deadboy.

Active since the turn of the decade, Deadboy has become closely associated with Numbers thanks to a succession of 12″ singles for the Glasgow label, though our favourite production from the man remains his slo mo house edit of Drake’s “Fireworks”. Deadboy will debut on Local Action next month with White Magyck, a six-track EP that features some truly wonderful sleeve art from Michael Dixon. A press release from the label suggests White Magick sees Deadboy let “in influences from outside the club in ways that he hasn’t before,” though “Inner Palace” – available to stream here – proves he hasn’t lost his knack for implementing killer pop hooks.

Local Action will release White Magick by Deadboy on April 20.
