Further names announced for Sónar 2015

A diverse selection of names have been added to the bill for the 22nd edition with Powell, Voices From The Lake, and Mika Vainio amongst the standouts.

This year’s edition of Sónar looks as if it will manage to cater for those craving big names and those seeking out more esoteric fare like no edition has done before. Last month details of the line-up began to take shape with veteran block rockers The Chemical Brothers and Warp mainstays Autechre announced to play along with artists such as Holly Herndon, Evian Christ, SOPHIE, Vessel, and Helena Hauff.

Today the festival’s organisers revealed a rather impressive further 38 acts confirmed for Sónar 2015, which is due to take place in Barcelona over the weekend of June 18 – 20 across the Fira Montjuic (Sónar By Day) and Fira Gran Via (Sónar By Night) venues. The 20th anniversary of the Mego label – and its subsequent iteration Editions Mego – will be celebrated with a showcase that features founder Peter Rehberg’s KTL project with Stephen O’Malley, as well as Klara Lewis, Voices From The Lake, and Russell Haswell. Further experimental presence is guaranteed with Mika Vainio, Powell, Randomer, and The Bug all confirmed.

In terms of headline performers, additions such as Duran Duran, Flying Lotus, Jamie xx, the self-explanatory Siriusmodeselektor, Skrillex, Hot Chip, and Larry Garnier broaden the appeal of the festival. Those seeking music that blurs the lines between the popular and the underground will be happy to see both FKA Twigs and Arca & Jesse Kanda have been added to the bill.

With more than 130 performers promised for the weekend in June, you can expect further line-up announcements in the coming months. Full details of the line-up so far can be found at the official Sónar website, where tickets can also be purchased.
