Preview new Opal Tapes sonics from Best Available Technology
The Portland-based artist is on uneasy, scratchy form with “IOVIS,” the final cut from his new tape Form And Void.
A new year and a new batch of spool-shaped goodness from North East emporium Opal Tapes has arrived, which is just as sonically diverse as previous editions. Wedged in between the blown out techno of the Flores Del Vicio project from DJ Ford Foster and Michael Watts, and further adventures in D.Å.R.F.D.H.S. from Varg and Michel Isorinne, is a new tape from our favourite Portland artist Best Available Technology. Last seen surprising everyone with a ragged, off the wall left_blank 12″, the BAT man makes a welcome return to Opal Tapes after his appearance alongside OND TON on one of the label’s earliest cassettes.
Available from next week, Form & Void can be previewed in full on the Opal Tapes Bandcamp and the below stream of final track “IOVIS” should persuade inquisitive souls to investigate further, with chiselled drums hanging loosely and clanking metallically over a hellish backdrop of abstract noise.
