Florian Kupfer debuts on WT Records
A new record from the rising German artist has slipped out on William Burnett’s label.
It’s been just under a year since the last release on WT Records, Never Look Back, which introduced the wider world to the obvious talents of Russian producer Art Crime. Label boss William Burnett has spent the subsequent period overseeing his drolly presented WTBS radio show, producing an obscure online TV series with Legowelt, and issuing work under his cadre of psuedonyms and collaborations. The most recent of the latter was the snappily titled Will & Florian, a mini album of low-lit electronics recorded in collaboration with fellow L.I.E.S. affiliate Florian Kupfer, released on Rush Hour’s No ‘Label’ operation last month.
This relationship between Burnett and Kupfer continues with the surprise news of a new WT Records release from the German artist, available now with little in the way of prior fanfare – something that falls in line with the WT ethos. Many people still associate Kupfer with the high pitched raw house of “Feelin'” from his 2013 L.I.E.S. White Label debut, so it’s nice to see the young German offer some insight into his diversity as a producer with the B-side tracks, as the below Bandcamp stream testifies.
WT 21 by Florian Kupfer is out now on WT Records.
