Duppy Gun Productions present Multiply

The label operated by Cameron Stallones and M. Geddes Gengras will issue a compilation of “outer-orbit dancehall selections” through Stones Throw next month.

You can trace the genesis of Duppy Gun Productions back to the 2012 FRKWYS collaboration between Sun Araw’s Cameron Stallones, M. Geddes Gengras and Jamaican group The Congos which resulted in an album and film for RVNG Intl. During this project, Stallones and Gengras made strong ties with a number of lesser known local vocalists, with a series of return trips the impetus behind the foundation of Duppy Gun Productions. Through this label, the pair have released a series of 12″s featuring their production work and vocals from local Dancehall artists. News now arrives Duppy Gun Productions plan to present a more comprehensive showcase of the project on a forthcoming compilation called Mulitply: Duppy Gun Productions.

Due out next month via parent label Stones Throw, Mulitply gathers material from the four 12″s issued on the label so far, along with unreleased tracks. Leaving Records boss Matthewdavid, Aaron Coyes of Peaking Lights fame, and Boredoms drummer Butchy Fuego are amongst the artists who provide these new backing tracks that were taken by Stallones and Gengras on a two week trip to Jamaica to work with a selection of vocalists that includes I Jahbar, Early One, Fyah Flames, Dayone, G Sudden, Lukan I, Bookfa, Singin’ Crazy, and Cerassietea. The below stream of “Mad” should give you an idea of what to expect if you are unfamiliar with Duppy Gun Productions, whilst the entirety of Multiply can be previewed at the Stones Throw site.
