Hodge joins Hotline for Mind Games

The prolific Bristol producer is the next to appear on the city’s Hotline Recordings label.

We here at Juno Plus HQ have taken to calling 2014 Year of the Hodge, such is the increasingly prolific nature of the Bristol-based producer. Building on some killer records for Punch Drunk last year, the producer has this year released or lined up solo records on Livity Sound’s Dnuos Ytivil label and Berceuse Heroique – his entry into the Juno Plus podcast series is also worth a listen if you need further proof of his skills.

After weeks of teasing, Bristol label Hotline Recordings has now confirmed Hodge will be the next producer to appear on what is possibly the only label in the world with a voicemail service, joining Kahn & Neek, Rachael, Commodo and Lurka on its discography. Consisting of two tracks, Hodge’s label debut can be previewed together with some suitably grainy VHS footage below. The weighty house rhythms of “Mind Games” make it instantly recognisable as a Hodge production, but “Flashback” is a much stranger track, where spiralling arpeggios eventually coalesce into a stern piece of swung techno.

Hotline Recordings will release Mind Games/Flashback on 12″ vinyl on October 1 at Rewind Forward, and on October 8 at all other retailers.
