Beats In Space turns 15 with compilation

Tim Sweeney’s long-running radio show is celebrated with a forthcoming two-disc anniversary compilation.

It might be difficult for some of us of at a certain age to accept, but Tim Sweeney’s Beats In Space radio show hits the age of 15 this year. Along with a few international parties to celebrate the occasion in London, Paris and Berlin, Sweeney has today announced details of a two-disc compilation titled Beats In Space 15th Anniversary.

As Resident Advisor reports, the first disc features unreleased material from Galcher Lustwerk and Azari & III together with material licensed from labels such as Hinge Finger, Crimes Of The Future and Studio Barnhus. The second disc meanwhile sees Sweeney pick 16 classic tracks that shaped the Beats In Space show, with tracks like Tensnake’s “In The End I Want You To Cry” and Carl Craig’s remix of Delia Gonzalez and Gavin Russom’s “Relevee” making the grade.

“The classic are songs that that have had a big influence on me or what I think have helped define the show over the past 15 years,” Sweeney told RA of the selection process. “I just took a look at some of the records that never seem to leave my record bag or the songs I always seem to play at home. A lot of them are influenced by my time working with Steinski, Tim Goldsworthy and James Murphy at DFA, and doing the soundtracks for Rockstar Games.”

Beats In Space Records will release Beats In Space 15th Anniversary on November 10.
