Baba Stiltz to release LP on Studio Barnhus
The young Swedish producer will release his debut album on the Stockholm label in October.
In 2011 young Baba Stiltz emerged on Flogsta Danshall, a label out of Stockholm releasing a intriguing style of Scandinavian funk known as Skweee which combines chiptune synths and leads with R&B, soul-like rhythms. Following the split and collaborative Sometimes 12″ on Sling & Samo’s Born Free Records last year, Baba Stiltz made his debut on Studio Barnhus after providing the newly minted Under Bron Recordings with their third release. The Swede has since dropped two more 12″s for the label overseen by Axel Boman, Kornél Kovács & Petter Nordkvist, with a bassline-roaring “Palats” from his most recent release a highlight of his growing back catalougue.
With news now surfacing Baba Stiltz will release his debut album, Total, on Studio Barnhus, it seems as though Boman, Kovács and Nordkvist are grooming the emerging talent for great things. A press release has playfully described the 12-track album as, “psychedelic screw-pop, minimalistic emo-acid and opiate-drenched coming-of-age-ambient.” Baba Stiltz’s album is the first full length Studio Barnhus has released since Bowman’s colourful Family Vacation LP last year, which comes between the footwork of Henry Rodrick’s Don’t Believe and the dewdrop melodies and stepping rhythm’s of Boska’s Interiors EP.
Studio Barnhus will release Baba Stiltz debut album Total on October 13.
