Ikonika returns with Position

The London producer follows last year’s Aerotropolis album with a new seven-track EP.

Hyperdub’s tenth anniversary year shows no signs of letting up, with core artist Ikonika making a swift return after last year’s airport-influenced Aerotropolis album with a new seven-track EP. Known for her singular fusion of grime, funky and dubstep, the Position EP is described by the label as Ikonika in “straight up banger mode,” with a sound that features “an almost 3D sense of contrast, and a brilliant ability to balance dusty old school sounds and shinier new ones and reshape them into something that sounds really fresh.”

The release also features a VIP version of her own “You Won’t Find It Here”, and a remix from East London Club Trax boss Alex Deamonds. But the real surprise is the inclusion of a remix from UK techno head Perc. Though the producer threw a bit of a curveball by remixing Factory Floor in 2012, his appearance on Hyperdub remixing “Mega Church” from the Aerotropolis LP is quite unexpected, and according to the label it “literally chews it up”.

Hyperdub will release Position on 12″ and digital formats on July 25.
