Dopplereffekt return to Leisure System
Gerald Donald’s enigmatic project and Objekt provide Berlin label Leisure System with a split 12″.
It was the Tetrahymena record for Leisure System last year which saw the revered Dopplereffekt emerge “from a grave of jagged detritus and technotrash” for their first transmissions since Rephlex issued the Calabi Yau Space album in 2007. Gerald Donald has remained active however, developing the NRSB-11 project with DJ Stingray, providing two releases for the unclassifiable Belgian label WéMè that included last year’s Commodified LP. Dopplereffekt’s return to Leisure System finds them sharing space on the two-track Hypnagogia 12″ with Berlin resident Objekt, with “Ganzfeld” the English producer’s second blip of the year after appearing on a various artist EP for Power Vacuum in March.
As Resident Advisor report, both tracks were “borne of mutual inspiration” and were “derived from a shared journey into extrasensory perception and subconscious thought.” Due for release in September, Hypnagogia follows Jimmy Edgar and Machinedrum’s JETS cover version of “Midas Touch” with risible crooner Jamie Lidell and Rob Clouth’s Leisure System debut. Leisure System will release Hypnagogia on vinyl and digital formats on September 1.
