Jonny Nash launches Melody As Truth

The new label will primarily act as an outlet for the London-based musician’s own material. 

If you’ve retained an interest in the output of ESP Institute you’ll be more than familiar with the work of Jonny Nash, who has contributed to Andrew Hogge’s label in various guises over the past five years after the pair first crossed paths in Tokyo. Now based in London, Nash’s output is sporadic yet always dipped in horizontal quality; he’s been involved in the Sombrero Galaxy project with revered Redlight Records digger Tako Reyenga, issued highly prized disco for Japanese label Crue-L as part of the Tokyo disco troupe Discosession and delivered the celebrated Land Of Light album with former Spectral Empire artist Kyle Martin.

Last seen collaborating with Martin, Thomas Bullock, Tiago and a few others on the Mezcal-infused improvised live band Spirit Bear Mezcal Ensemble for the label branch of Dalston fashion hub LNCC, Nash is set to resurface with a new label entitled Melody As Truth. Inspired by his aforementioned work with Spirit Bear Mezcal Ensemble and time in the studio with the likes of Gigi Masin and Young Marco, Melody As Truth is set to be a platform for Nash’s own productions with Phantom Actors, the first five-track release due in June. Speaking to the excellent Test Pressing site about the new label, Nash stated his reasoning for founding Melody As Truth was because he “wanted to develop something of my own, something beyond the music, a home for a certain unique aesthetic.”

Melody As Truth will release Phantom Actors by Jonny Nash on June 9.
