DJ Nature presents Groovotica

Milo Johnson returns to Golf Channel with a box set of music largely inspired by the `70s porn industry and Swedish erotica.

Having recently issued a new album for Japanese label Jazzy Sport called Let The Children Play, the New York-based Bristolian is now set to resurface on regular home Golf Channel with an intriguing new release. “I also wanted it to be like a homage to a very influential time in my growth, that being the ’70s. Back then music was made with soul and feeling,” DJ Nature recently told Golf Channel boss Phil South for an interview with Test Pressing. Consisting of a mix CD plus two 12″s – one of original material, the other a selection of edits from DJ Nature’s archive – Groovotica‘s original productions also employ the musicianship of Willie Williams (winds), Ron Pacaud (guitar) and Fred McFarlane (keys), the latter responsible for co-writing Robin S’ 1990 house anthem “Show Me Love”.

Of the originals appearing on the first 12″, DJ Nature tells how he would ‘bring a basic groove’ and let the three aforementioned play live over the top. He’d then take the recordings back to his studio to mix and re-construct, with a highlight shaping up to be the 16-minute “Gentle Persuasion”. Sex and sexual politics is what Nature also describes as constant themes running throughout Groovotica, complimenting its artwork inspired by Swedish erotica movies and the work of Japanese photographer Shigeki Tamura, while the accompanying mix CD, (a tracklisting has yet to surface), is explained as a “complete sexual experience for the ears.”

A release date of Groovotica is not yet known but the box set will come a bonus t-shirt of the artwork (size large) designed by Gimme 5.
