James Holden, Daphni and Simian Mobile Disco added to Sónar 2014
Nils Frahm, Chris & Cosey, Octo Octa and a host of local artists are also added to this year’s Barcelona festival.
Taking place from 12-14 June this year, the Barcelona leg of the Sónar festival is already looking like having one of the year’s most extensive and varied line-ups of electronic music, with Chic ft Nile Rodgers, Massive Attack, Plastikman, Oneohtrix Point Never, Ron Morelli, Laurel Halo, Forest Swords, and James Murphy and 2 Many DJs’ Despacio soundsystem among the many highlights already announced.
With the festival only two months away, the final additions to the line-up have arrived, headed up by a performance from German pianist and experimental producer Nils Frahm, Simian Mobile Disco, who will be performing their new ‘Whorl’ project which sees the duo performing with only an analog synthesiser and a sequencer, and a B2B set from James Holden and Dan Snaith’s solo alias Daphni. These will be joined by a host of other names, including Buraka Som Sistema, Butterz bosses Elijah & Skilliam together with Flava D, Chris & Cosey and 100% Silk’s Octo Octa.
Perhaps the most interesting of today’s line-up announcements however is the inclusion of a number of artists representing the Spanish electronic music scene, including Nev.Era., Pina, DJ2D2, Mwëslee, Territoire, Sunny Graves, Kresy, Glue Kids, BSN Posse, 3QUINOX, Mr. K!, and Enpunto as well as many others.
Sónar 2014 will take place between 12-14 June; full details and ticket information can be found at the official website.
