Lapsus celebrate tenth anniversary with compilation

Dalhous, Plaid, Kelpe and Shape Worship are among the names to contribute new material to the forthcoming release by the Barcelona-based label and festival.

With Sónar festival adopting a booking policy that’s increasingly more open to commercial acts as it has grown, it seems like Lapsus has filled the gap for those seeking some more experimental electronic fare in the Catalonian capital. The tenth edition of the small scale Lapsus festival takes place at Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona next weekend with 1991, Kangding Ray, Fennesz and Dalhous the headline acts, which should offer some insight into the tone of curation for the event.

To celebrate the landmark of ten years of the festival, the Lapasus organisers will also be releasing a double LP compilation which features music from some of the acts playing at this year’s edition along with other artists who have contributed to its success over the past decade. Due for release as the sun sets on the festival, Deu features a hefty seventeen tracks, with Kelpe, Warp veterans Plaid and “80s-obsessed knob-twiddler” Vector Lovers offering some pedigree alongside newer international names such as Blackest Ever Black act Dalhous, Keysound artist Etch and “deconstructed house” producer Shape Worship.

Lapsus will release Deu on April 8 on double LP and digital formats. Details on tickets for this weekend’s festival can be found at the Lapsus website.
