Exclusive: Listen to Jay L’s Wholemeal mix
Sink into an hours worth of house music from Jay L ahead of the Falling Up resident’s appearance at this weekend’s Wholemeal event in Peckham.
The Wholemeal collective have been spreading their club love across South and East London with a series of infrequent events as far back as 2009, characterised by a guest policy that marks them out as music fans first and foremost. Whilst they have occasionally booked headline draws like Pev, Blawan, and Sigha, Wholemeal are quite happy to base a night around the lesser celebrated selectors such as October, Simbad, Leif, Elgato or Alexander Nut. With whispers of expansion into a record label out there if you know where to look, this Saturday’s Wholemeal takeover of Peckham’s Bussey Building is as good an example of their approach as you can find. Mojuba’s Sven Weissman tops the billing, and is ably assisted by Relative, Appointment and Livejam crew member John Swing, and Bristolian Jay L.
If you are up to speed on Bristol runnings, you’ll recognise Jay L for his contributions to the city’s BRSTL label and his role in the Falling Up party with Idle Handler Andy Mac and Type Sun. We’ve got an exclusive mix sans tracklisting from Jay L ahead of this weekend’s event and it features an hour’s worth of bubbling and crunchy left of centre house music that should help slip attendees into the mood and cause the trainspotters out there all sorts of sleepless nights. Further details on the night and tickets can be found here.
