Listen to a fresh batch of Opal Tapes
Music from Austin Cesear, S Olbricht and Ford Foster forthcoming from the Teeside tape operation.
Having commenced the new year with the launch of the vinyl-dedicated Black Opal label and treated cities across Europe to a label showcase featuring Karen Gwyer and Dwellings & Druss, Opal Tapes boss ‘Bish’ has focused attentions back on pulling together another cast of impressive names and unknowns for the label’s latest batch of cassette releases. Audio surfaced over the weekend of the five planned tapes which include full releases from Styles Upon Styles affiliate James Place and Berlin-based tape mangler KETEV as well as split releases from Austin Cesear (pictured above), Stefan Jos, Ford Foster, William Watts, Alley Catss and S Olbricht.
Eight tracks from these releases are available to stream below, and in typical Opal Tapes fashion, it’s the lesser-known names that resonate immediately, specifically the crunched up drum & bass haze of Alley Catss and the crackle-filled “Hurculean” from James Place.
