Debut album from Mo Kolours on the way

Self-titled set from the Anglo-Mauritian percussionist and singer due through regular home One-Handed Music in March.

Joseph Deenmamode first surfaced under the Mo Kolours guise back in 2011, dropping the inaugural release in a trilogy of 12″s for the One-Handed Music label. Across this trilogy, the Mo Kolours sound cross-referenced the Sega Music native’s homeland of Mauritius with a dope-addled appreciation of Theo Parrish, dub, dreamy pop, hip hop and more, and has found favour with everyone from Gilles Peterson through Hot Chipper Joe Goddard and the Future Times crew – the 2012 Banana Wine EP featured a Beautiful Swimmers remix too. Unlike many who incorrectly throw around the term EP to present their music, these releases from Mo Kolours were the epitome of the term “Extended Play” taking in six or more tracks.

Having closed out his trilogy of One-Handed EPs with Tusk Dance last February, Deenmamode set to work on his debut album for the label, with the results set to take shape across eighteen tracks. Due out in March, the self-titled set is comprised of all new material that showcases his “remarkable rhythmic production prowess”. Ahead of release you can get a taste of how Mo Kolours is shaping up by streaming the dusty, Cymande-referencing, album cut “Mike Black”.

One-Handed Music will release the self-titled debut album from Mo Kolours on March 24.
