Helm returns to PAN with The Hollow Organ

A new EP from Luke Younger marks the first release of 2014 from PAN.

Wasting no time in kicking themselves into gear after another wide-ranging calender year of records, the PAN label run by Bill Kouligas have just released details of their first release of the 2014 in the form of a surprisingly speedy return for label regular Luke Younger under his Helm guise. Also known for previously making music with Heatsick mastermind Stephen Warwick as Birds Of Delay and running the Alter label, both his Impossible Symmetry and Silencer releases for PAN over the last few years have provided some of the label’s bleakest soundscapes, combining skeletal rhythmic clutter with scorched earth textures.

According to PAN, the four tracks onĀ The Hollow Organ draw something of a line under the sessions that spawned his previous records for the label. Instead Younger has taken the experience of his live performances and combined it with what is brilliantly described as “an increasingly squalid and visceral palette of anguished machine voices, sub-zero drones and bone-scraped rhythmic noise to divine unearthly space somewhere between semi-legal horror soundtrack and hyperstitious surreality.”

PAN will release The Hollow Organ on 12″ and digital formats on January 20.
