Listen to the latest Field Surrounding mix from Cut Chemist
The famed US turntablist digs deep on a diverse selection for the long running mix series from Field Records.
Founded back in 2008, Field Records has slotted nicely alongside fellow Amsterdam-based operations such as Delsin and M>O>S Recordings, intermittently issuing split release 12″s that feature contributions from the likes of Conforce, Duplex, Delta Funktionen and Mark Du Mosch. The label aesthetic has been emboldened further by the Field Recordings and Field Surroundings mix series; the former techno-focused sequence of mixes racked up an impressive 50 contributions from the likes of Juju & Jordash, Basic Soul Unit, Norman Nodge and Luke Hess over a two year period but it’s the Field Surrounding series that provides more intrigue.
The Field Surrounding series “delivers contemporary left-field mixtapes thriving on artistic freedom and quality” and thus far has seen selections from Madteo, Aardvarck, Rush Hour’s Antal Heitlager and Chicago legend Rahaan. DJ and record producer Cut Chemist is quite the curveball addition, but his 57 selection of folk, c90 wave and psychedelia is perfect Monday listening.
