Preview the long-awaited Future Times release from Huerco S
Huerco S’ long-promised Future Times release looks like it might finally be released soon – listen to clips of Apheleia’s Theme here.
Although Huerco S has risen to prominence over the past 12 months through releases for Wicked Bass, Opal Tapes and most recently Anthony Naples’ fledgling Proibito label, the US producer has long had material planned for release on Mike Petillo and Andrew Field-Pickering’s Future Times imprint, with “Cercy” appearing on our podcast from the duo last August.
As Field-Pickering hinted at in our interview with him in February, Huerco S’ Future Times debut is one of several planned records hit by pressing plant issues, but it looks like it may soon see the light of day. Entitled Apheleia’s Theme, the three track 12″ can be previewed below and offers yet more examples of the producer’s uniquely woozy take on house; the title track is a hypnotic mid-tempo jam overlaid with crisp hi-hats, while “Ausschachtung” takes a considerably more abstract approach. “Cercy” is the winner though, pairing grubby mechanical rhythms with a fuzzy wash of wavering synths and a vivid arpeggio.
