Appleblim returns with some Gas Jams
Appleblim will return with his first original material in nearly two years, collaborating with fellow Bristolian Komon on a forthcoming Apple Pips release.
New material from the Apple Pips boss is always welcome news, and the upcoming Gas Jam 12″ has Appleblim revisiting a previously productive studio partnership. Komon is the newly established house/bass handle of producer Keiran Lomax who has a stockpile of material to his name under the Komonazmuk banner, and has previously collaborated with Appleblim on remixes for Bonobo, Sideshow and My My’s Emika collaboration “Price Tag” – the latter is a personal favourite here at Juno Plus.
Due out later this month, the 12″ is apparently the first of several collaborative releases between the pair planned and sees them embark on a lead track that sits snugly in the boundary blurring bass genre. As infectious as the UK garage indebted bassline and vocal edits of “Gas Lamp” are, it’s the B-side production “Silencio” that sees the pair step furthest away from expectation, unfurling into a unique concoction of spacious dubstep rhythms and slo-mo house textures.
Apple Pips will release Gas Jam by Komon & Appleblim on 12″ and digital formats on March 25.
