Soul Jazz announce Deutsche Elektronische Musik 2

Soul Jazz have announced details of the label’s second Deutsche Elektronische Musik compilation.

As Resident Advisor report, the second volume of the series will have the same focus on German experimental rock and electronic music from the era of 1972-1983 as the first compilation. Arriving on both 2xCD and 2xLP formats, the collection offers a fairly accessible overview of the German experimental scene, with well known krautrock artists such as Can, Faust, NEU! and Popol Vuh all covered.

Its 2010 predecessor collected tracks from many of the same acts, however this second volume appears to dig a little deeper, including lesser-known acts such as Electric Sandwich, Sergius Golowin, Pyrolator and Harald Grosskopf – himself the subject of an excellent RVNG reissue in 2011 – alongside their more high-profile contemporaries. Like all Soul Jazz compilations, in-depth contextual reading will be included; David Stubbs, author of the 2009 book Krautrock: Cosmic Rock and its Legacy has been tapped up to provide extensive sleeve notes to go with the release.

Soul Jazz will release Deutsche Elektronische Musik 2 on 2xCD and 2xLP formats on March 11.
