Matthew Herbert to release 130 track retrospective collection

Accidental Records have announced details of a mammoth 130 track digital “box set” covering Matthew Herbert’s house-leaning productions from 1996 to 2006.

Herbert has long been one of Britain’s most adventurous producers, though recent years have seen him indulge his experimental tendencies even further, especially on the recent One Pig release which saw him trace and record a pig from life to death and slaughterhouse. Herbert Complete, released in March as an iTunes boxset on the producer’s own Accidental Records will offer those less familiar with his early work a chance to revisit it alongside photos, credits, video links and visuals; the full tracklisting (via Resident Advisor) can be viewed below.

The release will cover his four albums from this era – 100lbs, Around The House, Bodily Functions and Scale – each arriving as special editions containing bonus tracks, B-sides and remixes. However, the real source of excitement for Herbert completists will be the “Early Herbert” material, none of which has been released on CD or digitally, and which was all released through independent 90s dance labels which have long since ceased to exist; though at Juno HQ it will allow us a chance to remember how great the Smith N Hack remix of “Movin Like A Train” still is.

Accidental Records will release Herbert Complete digitally on March 4.
