Listen: Mark Hand – Remind Me

We return to the North with the latest broadcast from Signals HQ – an EP of sumptuous deep house from Mark Hand.

Speaking to us earlier this year, Signals spokesman Mike McHugh was effusive in his praise for the sometime Mysterymen artist Mark Hand, comparing the Hartlepool based producer to the likes of Theo Parrish and Moodymann. This is a likeness that bears justification on the basis of the forthcoming 12″ Remind Me, described in wonderfully tongue in cheek terms by the label as a “twilight drive down the A19 with the billowing steam of Redcar steel works in the distance and the exotic promise of the lights of Teeside’s chemical industry on the horizon.” Lead track “Mess It Up” is a particular delight, rolling on the kind of deeply atmospheric tip that’s reminiscent of many a Firecracker release.
